Preparing for the 2007 Session

Details

In preparation for the 2007 Session of the General Assembly, the programs for our November and December “Good Morning Technology” breakfast will focus on two of the more pressing technology-related issues that will be addressed over the next few years… e-Healthcare, and Telework.

As quickly as information technology itself evolves, corporate strategies for meeting the insatiable demand for IT services evolve as well. Decisions regarding outsourcing, off-shore, near shore, and internal development are often guided by complex models that seek to establish the best possible mix of cost, quality, and schedule. Decision makers seek to create virtual 24 hour IT operations that maximize the benefit each source offers.

Our December 19th TechSummit will focus on industry trends and some of the criteria used to make these decisions. Speakers include: Scott McKay – CIO at Genworth Financial, Avinish Singh – CEO of Birlasoft, and Mrinal Sattawala – COO of Patni Computer Systems. Topics will include: “Don’t be a Victim”, Developing your IT workforce, and Operating IT in a global world.

Mid-Session Legislative Recepiton - January 24, 2007

We are now in the process of preparing for the 2007 Legislative Reception. This year, the event will again be co-hosted by the Greater Richmond Technology Council, Virginia Technology Alliance, and the Commonwealth’s Secretary of Technology, Aneesh Chopra. The reception will be held on January 24th at the Library of Virginia.

In recent years, attendees have included the Governor, Lt. Governor, Attorney General, Speaker of the House, Science and Technology related Committee Chairs, Cabinet Secretaries, Agency Heads, and dozens of Delegates, Senators, and government officials. This year's attendees will again include leadership from the Secretary's office and VITA.
