Finding qualified employees to
satisfy the explosive growth in jobs for the Information
Technology industry is one of the biggest challenges facing US
businesses today. A large part of this problem is the lack of
students pursuing math, science, and engineering degrees at
our colleges and universities. Scott McKay, COO at Genworth
Financial, points out that in 2004, only 1.4% of college
freshmen chose computer science as their major (down from 3.7%
in 2000).
