IT Development and Deployment at Philip Morris Center for Research & Technology Is a Model for Project Collaboration

            Richmond, VA –- Jan. 12, 2007 –

John V. Antonietta, PMP, PM USA Information Services, IT Manager: CRT Systems

When the new Philip Morris Center for Research & Technology opens this year, what role will information technology play in its success? John Antonietta, who is leading Philip Morris’ IT efforts at the Richmond BioTech Park facility, views IT as mission-critical to driving successful research at the Center. He will share the details of his plans for IT infrastructure and innovation at the Greater Richmond Technology Council’s January Good Morning Technology breakfast at 7:30am on Friday, Jan. 12, 2007 at the Place at Innsbrook in Glen Allen, VA.

Antonietta will describe his vision for the IT infrastructure that will help the scientists and engineers at the facility make the discoveries to drive innovation at Philip Morris. Included in his vision are a super-computer to support the research of the Center’s staff of 500, and an array of enterprise systems to foster collaboration throughout the Center. The team that is working with Mr. Antionietta on developing and deploying the IT infrastructure at the Center for Research & Technology will be on hand at the GRTC event to talk about their work and to field questions from attendees.

John Antonietta has over 25 years of technology experience in various disciplines including manufacturing engineering, IT consulting services, project management and strategic planning. John joined Philip Morris USA in the New York office in 1995 after 14 years at IBM in New York/New Jersey. While at IBM, John was responsible for development of manufacturing engineering systems used in mainframe computer assembly & testing processes and had international assignments at IBM facilities in Montpellier, France and Yasu, Japan. John then served as a marketing representative in IBM's Global Services group responsible for consulting services engagements at IBM's large manufacturing accounts in New York and New Jersey.

Since joining PM USA, John has been a project manager responsible for development of IT systems for Business Planning, Finance, Law, Media & Public Affairs, Quality, Operations and now Research and Development. His most recent assignment prior to his role as IS Project Manager for the Center for Research and Technology (CRT) was as Manager of Strategic Planning for Enterprise Content Management (ECM) initiatives, where he won the 2006 OpenText GlobalStar ECM Champion award for his work defining PM USA's strategy for eDiscovery and records management technologies.
