GRTC announces the 2007 Virginia Technology Interns program

Does your company need tech-savvy employees? Does the future of the central Virginia economy depend on having a continuing source of creative and innovative technologists?

You know the answer to both of those questions – YES.

How will the technology sector plant the seeds to grow the technology innovators of tomorrow?

A big part of the answer to that question is - by engaging the enthusiasm of young minds, giving them the chance to see the power of technology paired with entrepreneurial thinking.

The GRTC announces the 2007 Virginia Technology Interns program – an opportunity for your company to have some real impact on workforce development in central Virginia.

The goal of the program is to encourage students’ pursuit of technology, and the business applications of technology, by offering them paid technology-focused summer internship opportunities. We recognize the importance of workforce development to the continued success of the central Virginia tech economy - the Virginia Technology Intern Program is an ideal way to identify and nurture emerging technologists, firing their interest in pursuing technology degrees and joining the technology workforce.

The program is also a way you and your company can give back to the community, fostering the growth and development of young engineers, scientists, mathematicians and technology-savvy entrepreneurs. The companies and institutions that participate in the Virginia Technology Intern Program are investing in their own future, forging new talent for increased tech-sector growth in the local economy.

Genworth Financial is partnering with us in the Virginia Technology Interns program. They recognize the need to stimulate interest in technology careers while students are still in high school, engaging their creativity in pursuit of innovation.

Join the GRTC, Genworth, and other member companies in the 2007 Virginia Technology Interns Program by offering an internship at your company, or by funding internships at institutions such as the Science Museum of Virginia. Information on the program is available on its web site, www.techinternprogram.com.

Work with us to plant the seeds of technology innovation in the next generation of bright minds. Help to ensure the continued growth and vibrancy of the tech sector in central Virginia.
