Robert W. Wadell - Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer, Apex Systems, Inc.

Rob holds the position of Senior Vice President and CIO of Apex Systems, Inc. He has over 24 years experience in Information Technology and joined Apex in December, 2006. He came to Apex as a partner with Tatum Partners, a CFO/CIO consultancy. Prior to joining Tatum, Rob spent 2001 through 2004 heading up IT for Markel Corporation’s North America Operations. Before joining Markel in 2001, he was Director of Technology at a local start-up, Experient Technologies, and spent 5 years with Capital One as a senior consultant to critical business applications and programs. He began his tenure with Capital One as a senior systems consultant with Metro Information Services and served on Metro’s senior leadership team.

Rob began his career at SAIC in 1983 working as a systems analyst on the Joint Cruise Missile Program. In 1988, he joined McDonnell Douglas Aerospace to continue his work on Cruise Missile as a senior systems engineer and site manager at CINCPAC headquarters. His software development, deployment and quality control work had a measurable impact on the early success of the Tomahawk cruise missile program.

Rob currently serves on VCU’s IS Advisory Board and is a guest lecturer in VCU’s Executive Masters - Information Systems program. He is a native of Virginia and holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Virginia Tech. Rob, his wife, Joan, and son, Matt, live in Richmond’s West end.
