Mr. John F. Rudin

John F. Rudin is an independent business consultant. His background
includes over thirty years experience in various leadership positions
with a Fortune 500 aluminum company. Management and executive experience
include finance, administration, sales management, general business
management, and president of the $700 million revenue metals
distribution business unit. Most recently, he served as vice president,
chief information officer, responsible for the corporation’s information
technology systems, communications and related strategies in support of
business operations.
Since retiring in June 2000, Mr. Rudin has served as a business
consultant providing services in the areas of information systems
management, business processes and strategic planning. His interest is
working with organizations to achieve measurable improvements in
operations through personnel development, open communication, clear
accountability, teamwork and technology to improve business processes.
As a past director of the National Association of Aluminum Distributors
(NAAD), John also served as president of the 100-member company trade
organization. He is past chairman of the Specialty Metals Division of
the Steel Service Center Institute (SSCI). He served on the Information
Systems Committee and Board of Directors of the YMCA of Greater
Richmond. He presently serves on the Board of Directors of the Greater
Richmond Technology Council, chairs the workforce development committee
and was a founder of the CIO Forum for the exchange of ideas from local
companies. John served the city of Richmond as a member of the
Department of Information Technology Policy Committee and the Commission
to Re-engineer City Government. He represented the Virginia
Manufacturer’s Association on the Virginia General Assembly Joint
Commission on Technology and Science Advisory Committee considering the
Uniform Computer Information Transactions Act (UCITA).
The Greater Richmond Technology Council recognized John as a finalist
for the 2000 leadership award. In 1999, he was presented with the IT
Education Achievement Award by Virginia Commonwealth University and the
Greater Richmond Technology Council for contribution to the advancement
of information technology education in the Richmond area.
A native of Chicago, John attended the University of Illinois majoring
in business administration and received an M.B.A. from the University of
Richmond. He served as a petty officer in the Naval Air Reserve.
