Richard Grier, leader of both the firm's Health Care and Technology & E-Commerce client service teams, has extensive experience in health law as well as small business and corporate issues.

His practice in health law includes general representation of physicians and hospitals in connection with a wide variety of general legal matters, including applications for certificates of public need, hospital reorganizations, income tax ruling letters for hospital reorganizations and hospital joint ventures, including joint ventures with for profit organizations. He also represents physicians in connection with general practice matters, including employment agreements and fraud matters.

Grier is active in representing general business clients including corporate acquisitions, development and sale of hotels and personal tax planning.

Examples of matters handled recently by Grier include:

• Representing a tax exempt hospital in negotiating a joint venture with a for profit corporation and filing the application for letter ruling with the Internal Revenue Service
• Representing a hospital in filing a certificate of need application for an ambulatory surgery center
